I was born and raised by professional musicians. Music has run deep in my family for many generations. I seen at an early age that talent, the naturalsense of timing, and dedication are intertwined (you must learn to take these three anduse them simultaneously). You can not have one or even two of the three working in yourfavor and leave one out and expect the desired result; music. However: The good news isthe one un-natural element in that equation, dedication, can strengthen the other two. Andwith dedication coupled with practice, practice, practice, you can become an "In thePocket" player capable of taking the stage fearlessly with anyone at any time. I began playing "with" musical instruments at such an early age I have to be told I wasalways trying to get my hands on the things I seen the others making this magical soundwith. But after being in School Band playing brass instruments I seen my true calling wasthe time keeper, the backbone, the most difficult job in a band; the drums. I learned by roteand feel that's the only true way to learn to play a trap set. You can get technical withsheet music and learn to get by on some percussion instruments, but if your goal is to playin a band with a kit then in my opinion you're better served learning the old fashion way, byearning it. I have played professionally since I was 20 years of age. I have well over 3,000 on stage, paid gig experience. I worked three nights a week for many years. I love all genres ofmusic, my favorite being Rock and Roll(I cut my teeth on Lynyrd Skynyrd). I've playedevery genre to various degrees and found that certain fundamentals in percussion help totranslate in success no matter if you're playing a soft version of "Amazing Grace" orhammering out a rock and roll classic. These fundamentals also are key when onedecides to work on original material. Whether you're a seasoned drummer looking for those extra little tricks and tips thatseem to elude you, or a green horn newbie, I can help you if your desire is to become abetter drummer. Performing Experience: 20+ years working, making a living playing the skins. Over 3,000 paying stage performances with various bands. Including: The Rolling RiverBand, Southern Knights, the Jubal Early band, Bluehound, Cross Plains, plus many projectsand pick-up gigs. 80+ hours in the studio recording, producing, engineering. Experience Teaching: I've "taught" all along during my career. It's hard not to teach if you live music and wanteveryone to share the experience. So I have always tried to take the time, if practicable, toshow even the most rudimentary of techniques if someone desires to make music orhave understanding.
