Born in Reading, PA, I received my first guitar instruction and general music lessons from my father who was a career musician for much of my childhood years. During my late 20's and 30's I had the pleasure of studying in Portland, OR with the great jazz drummer Alan Jones as well as studying theory and composition at Mt. Hood Community College with Suzy Jones, Dave Barduhn, Marshal Tuttle and many other accomplished jazz musicians such as Stan Bock, Jeff Hamilton, and Anat Choen. Every musician learns differently and has a unique perception of rhythm, melody and harmony. Each musician requires different teaching methods and a specific practice regimen to develop and maintain motivation. A student should hear and see progress after each lesson. I've instructed students from age 4 to 84 in various styles ranging from hard rock like "The Melvins" to Country style playing like "Chet Atkins" to the solo technique and chord melody of "Wes Montgomery" and "Barney Kessel". Each student will receive individual teaching methods based on my assessment of their potential and musical interests. Formal Education: Mt.
