I've taught college level courses, all sewing levels, plus design courses. At one time, I made all of my clothing, but with limited time and great sales, my garment sewing is now limited to hemming and repairs. I teach sewing with an iron in one hand, and the sewing machine next to it. (I have a Bachelor of Science in Apparel Design.)
My recent projects range from apparel/ jewelry design for weddings, to digital art and graphic design for special events. Color and art selection for interiors has become a specialty. Teaching children's print-making classes, organizing an adult "Tablescapes" workshop and participating in fiber art competitions enriched my arts vocabulary, and required me to develop innovative techniques and hone existing skills. I combine computer technology, and old-fashioned hands-on craftsmanship.
Textiles remain my obsession, and I continue to experiment with printing, embroidering, texturizing, embellishing and otherwise manipulating silk and cotton fabrics.
I love introducing new techniques to students. I often create all apparel accessories (handbag, hand-printed shawl, and jewelry) for a special event.
