I have worked in the head start program in Brandon and worked with kids from the age of birth to 4. I was a school bus driver for 10 years and I drove all ages from 4-17. I have always had a passion for children and like helping them learn all aspects of life that is age appropriate. I enjoy doing crafts and reading with children. I like music and cooking. I raised my own children and I am presently helping raise my 4-month-old twin granddaughters.
Nestled in the Green Mountains of Vermont, Killooleet is a community of 100 girls and boys who specialize in a variety of sports and arts activities. Most campers bring their bicycles and enjoy riding them on our flat campus. Sports activities include soccer, softball, horseback riding, archery, swimming, canoeing, kayaking, frisbee, bicycling, fencing and tennis. Performing arts include drama, the camp musical, video production, folk, rock, jazz, blues, and bluegrass music, and regular chances to perform. Visual arts include silver jewelry, stained glass, ceramics, woodworking, sewing, leather and crafts. We explore Vermont on day and overnight trips, on foot, by bicycle, in canoes and with paintbrushes and cameras in hand. The schedule is written daily and includes free time for camper initiated projects. After trying activities campers choose how to spend their time each day. One camper might go from garden crew to wood shop, hop on their bicycle to get back to the cabin to change into long pants for riding, have lunch and rest hour, then have a softball league game and choose to go swimming in the afternoon. One of his or her cabin mates might go from band crew to stained glass, have a guitar lesson in recall before playing soccer, then choose video and archery for Choice. "Thanks so much for the two best summers of my life! I learned so much and grew so much as a person. I learned about kindness, respect for others, and human nature, not to mention many other things. Most importantly, I learned about confidence and believing in myself. The values that Killooleet taught me will stay with me for the rest of my life.... it is truly a special place." "Killooleet is an amazing place that harbors a strong sense of community and trust. Kids can be themselves and not worry about preserving their self image or being judged." "I talk to friends who go to larger camps and often times they say they know less than half the campers. I can't imagine walking down camp and seeing someone I didn't know, everyone is so friendly and welcoming."
