Doula And Nanny Looking For Long-term Position

Responds within minutes
I AM NOT CURRENTLY AVAILABLE. MY PROFILE WILL BE UPDATED IF THAT CHANGES. I'm a doula, a former Au Pair, an experienced babysitter, and a certified child music class teacher. I'm particularly looking to work with newborns and infants. After graduating with a BA in 2018, I lived in the Netherlands as an au pair, and I am currently in training to become a full-spectrum Doula while caring for many local families. My qualifications include 12 years of babysitting for ages 0-12; teaching parent-child music classes; one summer as a full-time nanny (18mo, 3, 5); one summer as a camp counselor; and 6 months in a kindergarten classroom. I also minored in Education/Child Development in College. As a childcare provider, I prioritize the child(ren)'s development by fostering an environment of fun and emotional health that aligns with the family's personally held values. It's important to me that these values are similar to my own. Please reach out to me if you think I could help your family!

Jennie watched my daughter from when she was about 2 1/2 months until we were forced to stop because of COVID. She is very nurturing and engaging, helping with her developmental skills. I always trusted Jennie, she's reliable and has great experience with young babies and children. Couldn't have been happier to have her with us.

Child Care

I went to school for fine arts and was a professional chef for 7 years and love kids! I have always casually babysat children since I was a teenager, but didn't start professionally working as a nanny until 2010. Prior to moving to the city I also trained to be a Doula and have attended 4 births. My experience ranges from infant to 10-year-olds but I have the most experience with infants. I have lived with 2 families that had an infant/13-month-old at the time. My nanny style is that I like to cultivate a dual respect between myself and the child, which I feel is extremely important. I pride myself in my patience. I believe this is why I get along with children so well. Without ego, I am usually liked by all children. I am very upfront and also expect good communication between myself and the parent. My qualifications are perfect for busy parents that would like to spend more quality time with the family, and not be burdened with "life stuff" like cooking, cleaning, and running errands

Mel worked with our family from the time our daughter was six months old until she went to preschool. I have nothing but positive things to say about our experience. Mel is a real professional. During our time working with her, she was completely dependable: she was always on time (so important for our work schedules) and always let us know in advance when she needed time off. She respected our wishes in terms of our feeding/nursing practices, introducing solid foods, etc. and even helped by making baby food for our daughter. Most importantly, Mel really understands kids, how to take care of them, recognize their needs, and connect and talk with them. My daughter loved her and it was never an issue for us to leave the house when Mel was around! We didn't have family nearby, and Mel was one of the only other adults my daughter spent quality time with during this young time. I had total trust that my daughter was in great hands, and I have no reservations fully recommending Mel.

Experienced LPN, CPR & BLS Certified, Certified Doula

I started my journey in the child care industry when I was very young. I grew up in a large family. My mother has 8 siblings and they all have their own children which I helped raised from when they were born. I'm comfortable with all ages from newborns to teenagers and I can multitask and take great care of more than 1 child at a time. While going to school for my nursing degree, I've worked side by side with another nanny, who has 10+ years of experience and has recently opened her maternity consultant company. Under her management, I've learned all the tools needed to be an awesome nanny. One of the things I specialize and I'm very passionate about is child nutrition. I believe that the health of a kid starts when he is in the womb. With the right knowledge and training, a mother can learn the secrets to introducing healthy foods to their 6-month-old child. By introducing new healthy foods in a fun and exciting way, your child will be in path for a healthy diet forever. Aside from eating time, I am comfortable doing light housekeeping, doing laundry and organizing clothes. I believe it's important to involve children in stimulating activities such as art classes, music class, play dates with other children, walk around the park and discover the city, etc. I'm very involved in the mental and physical growth of the child and will engage him/her throughout the year. If you are looking for someone who is going to do more than just change your child's diaper and spend the day watching cartoons, I am the right person.
