I've been an animal lover and owner my entire life. Mostly dogs, but there were also 2 ducks, a couple of rats, a cat, a guinea pig and a hamster in the mix as well over the years. But I've been working professionally in the dog world for 13 years now. I think I've had just about every job there is. I've done private walks, group walks, pack hikes, pet taxi, and I've worked at variety of daycare and boarding facilities. I've also done daycare and overnight boarding in my home. Even poop scooper there for a while! I've taken care of 5lb dogs and 160lb dogs. Old dogs, blind dogs, handicapped dogs, you name it. I just love being around dogs all day. I have found the perfect career for me, and it's definitely my happy place. Contact me any time, I'm happy to help in any way if I can.

Jen comes 3x/week to take our 110# English Golden Retriever out with about 6 other dogs. The group is mostly the same each week, so he gets to play with his same friends. He absolutely loves it! He waits by the door at 2:00 and whines in anticipation when he hears her truck pull up. She runs him around and keeps him active, too, so he doesn't just flop down with a stick. On hot days she picks shady places with water and on rainy days she dries him off before depositing him back in the house. He comes home happy and exhausted. I am disabled and can no longer give Charlie the exercise and social interaction he deserves to have a good life. It's a line item in my budget and worth every penny.

How do I find a good dog boarding service in Portland on Care.com?
Unlike pet sitters that come to your home, boarding your dog means taking it to a facility or someone else's home in Portland. Before you agree to bring your fury family member over, ask to take a tour so you can see the place beforehand. You want to make sure there is a good level of cleanliness, that your dog will have a comfortable place to sleep and will be able to safely play with other dogs if there are any. Make sure to ask for references from other pet parents in Portland before making and decision. Also ask about how often you'll receive updates about your dog and how they communicate with clients if there is an emergency.
