I am 33 years old and have 13 years of care-giving experience. I hold a Bachelor's Degree in Psychology and have outstanding references and resume. I naturally possess a strong work ethic have a genuine character and a warm heart. I have always held a passion in being there for others. I enjoy making life simpler for seniors in need and have found being there for them very rewarding. I love what I do! I have experience with Hospice care, Dementia, Alzheimer's Disease, COPD, Diabetes, Breast Cancer, Prostate Cancer, Heart Disease, A-Fib, Parkinson's Disease, Anxiety and the legally blind. Some of the services I provide include nutritious yet tasty in-home cooked meals, errand running/food shopping, light housekeeping, transportation, assistance/company during medical appointments, bill organization, home management, personalized water aerobics classes, personalized Reiki sessions (a Japanese healing practice that promotes relaxation, improved sleep, pain reduction and accelerated healing) entertainment/planned in-home or local activities, card playing, and of course companionship. Here are some examples of how I tailor my services to the unique needs of each of my elder-clients... For a client who needed a knee replacement and was told exercise might help reduce pain... I designed and gave her a water aerobics class 3 days a week which really reduced her pain levels. An elder couple who wanted to keep a holiday tradition of entertaining for 30 but just couldn't do it on their own anymore... I did all the food shopping, food prepping/cooking, table and chair setup, and clean up later. Everyone had a wonderful and stress free time! A client who has an extremely hard time falling asleep and staying asleep... I started offering Reiki towards the end of my visits and she now falls into sleep during each session. A client's daughter at the last minute couldn't take her mother to an important Doctor's appointment... I took the client to the appointment after taking appropriate notes of current medical condition and medications, traveled with portable oxygen, met with 2 doctors and while assuring my client was calm and comfortable I took extensive notes and reported back to her daughter. I would love to get a chance to chat with you or about your loved one to see how I can help make life safer, easier and more pleasurable! I have been certified to assist in self-administration of medication and as a Direct Support Professional to work in a licensed adult residential facility. Certified in Reiki I and Reiki II. If you are unfamiliar with Reiki it is a gentle hands-on non-invasive Japanese healing practice. It is considered a complimentary and alternative healing modality and has been known to create deep relaxation, aid the body to release stress and tension, accelerate the body's self-healing abilities, aid better sleep, and reduce blood pressure. Reiki can also help with acute injuries and chronic problems (asthma, eczema, headaches, etc.) and helps relieve pain. Reiki has also been used to reduce some of the side effects of drugs and helps the body to recover from drug therapy after surgery and chemotherapy.
