Farm Girl in Training is ideal for ages 8 to 12 yrs that show an interest in butterflies, crafts, animals, nature, trees and gardening. Training will include everyday life on the farm caring for Nigerian Dwarf goats, chickens, 2 Netherland Dwarf rabbits, land and vegetable/herb/butterfly gardens. She will be involved in helping with farm tours and errands to maintain a farm. We also teach hand crafts, cooking and community service. Award pins can be earned at an additional cost. Owner and manager, Kim Mann, has 25 years of childcare/education experience and a degree in Art Education. Elizabeth Mann, 21 yrs, has a degree from Southeastern Seminary, certified in herbs and permaculture, blogger of "Elizabeth's Secret Garden" , author of 4 books, butterfly conservationist and trained counselor at YMCA. Andrea Mann, 19 yrs, is a talented artist in pottery, drawing, painting, photography, chicken caregiver and a trained counselor at the YMCA. Applicants and parents can schedule a private interview at the farm. Applicants will be selected by owner of the farm and will have a trial period. The cost is up to $10 hour based quantity of hours scheduled with flexible hours based upon your schedule. The program will give girls the advantage to earn skills she can take into her adult life. SHAPE Eco Farm is 5 acres of beautiful woods conveniently located near Wake Forest, Youngsville, and Creedmoor.
