Mrs. Brooke's Curious Kid's Program

I provide after school and summer care for children age 4 through 6th grade. My after-school kids have time to complete homework, relax and play after a long day at school. I also provide care on days there is no school, for example winter break, days school is canceled due to weather and scheduled no-school days. I also provide child care from my home on weekends or when I have fewer kids. Over the summer I have Summer Program in which children work on retaining their academic skills and work on skills that will be taught at the next grade level. We raise money to fund field trips or to donate to charity. Last year our theme was Learn, Earn and Show Concern. We learned about recycling and protecting our environment. We sold lemonade and donated the money to a local state park. As our end of summer trip we made bluebird houses, went hiking at the park and cooked out. Our kids always have a great time over the summer and at after school. They don't even know they are learning most of the time because it is hands on learning. I have two other employees beside myself and two fill-in employees who help when required to fulfill child/adult ratio requirements. Besides working for me, my two regular employees work in the teaching field. I also work as a preschool aide. We are a licensed child care center. This means that we meet requirements established by the Department of Human Services. We receive continual training in all areas of child care including First Aid/CPR, blood borne pathogens and are mandatory reporters of suspected child abuse. The centers hours are 3:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m. for after school and 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. for summer and winter programs. We are currently charging $2.25 per hour for hours needed. For Summer Program there is a minimum of five hours per week. For all new students a $50.00 deposit is required and will be returned when your child is no longer under our care.
