My dad has stage 4 mesothelioma cancer. Hospice has been helping with supplies and sends an aide 3 times per week and we have constant communication with an RN that comes out twice a week. We called Visiting Angels to hire some help at night so my mom and I could get some sleep and take care of Dad during the Dad. Visiting Angels sent out a CNA and she arrived at 10:00 pm. By 10:15 pm she was asleep on our couch! The only time she helped with my dad was at 3:45 am when I woke her up and asked her to help me change him! Paying an agency $22 an hour to have someone sleep at your house and not help with your loved one is ridiculous! Their website also says free assessment, but they charged $96 for an RN to come in and ask questions for about 30 minutes. This place is a joke. Don't get conned into thinking they will help out in a crisis.

We have recently started using Visiting Angels to care for my grand father. The ladies in the office were able to initiate services fairly quickly and have been nothing short of helpful since. They've made the whole experience a breeze for our family. I would recommend them to anyone!

Mom has pretty advanced dementia. She doesn't see that she has any memory issues, and she certainly doesn't need anyone touching her stuff. In her mind, people are meddling. She can work up quite an anger just because someone mops her floor, or wipes down a kitchen counter, or heaven forbid, throws away a piece of trash. With your caregiver, Sara's, watchful care, mom is always eager for Sara to come back and always happy to see her. Sara talks to her, can tell if something irritates her, and works with my mom's moods and personality to keep her safe and happy. Sara brings items of enrichment and works with Mom, keeping her engaged and happy. Instead of being cared for, which makes her mad, she is spending time with a dear friend. Sara works with Mom's interests and they watch DVDs, listen to misuc, talk, sit in the garden, identify flowers by name, cook together and clean together. The "together" is very important, because if anyone does tings for her, she gets made. Thgether, they have looked through and scanned throusands of slides. Sara and Mom look at the pictures, and Mom has remembered many of the people in them. It's amazing what Sara does and thinks of. She adaps to each day with something fun and as active as Mom can be on that day. Sara has changed my mom from staring out the window, to actively having a good time. I thnk Sara for so much and I thank you for sharing her with us. I have recommended Visiting Angels to many folks as you provide a much needed service. Mom couldn't stay alone without you. My mother's life and my life are better because of you and your caregivers.
