Ubuntu Academy

UBUNTU Academy is an early learning center in the core of Kansas City, Missouri. UBUNTU means I am what I am because of who we all are. This supports the belief that it takes a village to raise a child. The core focus is to prepare our students to be kindergarten ready. Missouri early childhood education has suffered millions of dollars in budget cuts as of 2012. Children attending schools within the Kansas City School District face learning challenges due to accreditation and other issues. As a consequence, this area needs professionals interested in improving the face of early childhood education. We believe children who possess the fundamentals for kindergarten have a better chance to succeed in their learning.

UBUNTU Academy is addressing the need for early education and academic preparation of toddlers and pre-kindergarten children for entry to the public school district. Studies suggest that early childhood education increases school readiness and prepares children for academic learning. Children completing early education turn out to be more intellectual and have better linguistic skills. They have also found that children who get a jump-start on education have better math and reading skills. Not only are their cognitive skills increasing at a rapid pace but crucial behavioral traits like sociability, motivation and self-esteem are improved. Studies that followed children through their adult years confirm that investment in the early education of disadvantaged children pays extremely high returns down the road such as a measured improved success in college, higher income or even lowers incarceration rates. The social benefits compared to children who did not attend an early education program show that those who do acquire early education are able to relate to other students in a better way.
