Our preschool program provides education and care for 3 to 5-year-olds in small group settings. Our after-school program was added in 1998, kindergarten through 4th grade. Birchwood s hours are 7:00am to 5:30pm, Monday through Friday. We are accredited by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (naeyc.org), voluntarily undergoing a comprehensive process of internal self-study and improvement followed by an outside evaluation by NAEYC validators. This insures that we are offering high quality programs that provide a safe, nurturing educational environment for young children, families and staff. We have also received a Step 4 rating, the highest level, from Maine Quality Rating System; this also demonstrates our goal to offer a quality early childhood environment.
