The Community Learning Center (CLC) was created as a division of the Comstock Community Center to help local children and youth grow and develop to their fullest potential. Our high-quality, curriculum-based programs prepare our youngest community members for a lifetime of meaningful contributions to the local community, state, nation and internationally. Our staff and volunteers are dedicated to understanding each child's unique gifts and challenges. Together with parents, we help each child, from 6 weeks old through 5th grade, to develop the social, emotional and academic skills needed to experience learning as a gateway to success at school, work and in life. Our success depends on meaningful community relationships - with parents, funders, businesses and organizations. Of significant impact is our collaborative relationship with Comstock Public Schools. Together we strive to help each child achieve his or her full potential, regardless of their circumstances. The programs we offer are as follows: Infant Care Toddler Care Preschool (KRESA) Before/After School (K through age 12) Summer Programs (K through age 12)

Infant Program: Our infants have a "primary" caregiver who centers their day around each baby's individual schedule. Every moment of an infant's day offers opportunities for learning. They are able to view the world from many different angles that include: crawling, being carried, stroller rides, outdoor play, climbing and rocking. Diaper changing, feeding, and other routines are viewed as "prime times" for communication, self discovery, socializing, and building trust. Our infant teachers also understand each infant's developmental needs and offer fun and often messy sensory activities!! We are happy to "Treasure each New Wonder"! Toddler Program: In planning a program for toddlers, our teachers understand that toddlers learn with their whole bodies and they are prepared to be flexible and spontaneous! Toddlers are eager to try new things and discover their world on a physical level through large muscle activities and planned curriculum. Toddlers are working on becoming autonomous and learning how to control their impulses and behaviors. Our teachers will allow opportunities for toddlers to be responsible and make choices but will also know when to limit certain behaviors with patience and warmth. The introduction of colors, shapes, numbers and letters will begin along with activities that develop their social-emotional growth. Our job is to " Encourage New Discoveries"! Young Preschool - Young 5's Program: Preschoolers are curious, imaginative and happy to cooperate in their learning experiences. Our teachers understand the need to balance academic activities (preparing children ages 3-6 for Kindergarten) with experiences that allow children to investigate and explore the world around them. Our curriculum is written and developed to establish building blocks through the preschool years and fully prepare children for Kindergarten. Our teachers use assessments and conferences with parents to help them meet each child's learning needs. We incorporate language & literacy, math, science, and social studies experiences along with music, art and other creative activities. Children also need loving support as they learn how to follow directions, interact with others, and develop independence. We are excited to have the opportunity to "Inspire New Learners"! Coming in the near future!! School Age Program: This program will provide an enriching environment for children ages 7 - 12. We will provide before and after school care, a summer program, and full day care when public schools are closed for snow days or inservice events. Our teachers understand and address the interests and developmental levels of this age group with challenging activities and offer the freedom to learn about what interests them.
