In 2015, Jennifer Brosnahan and Stepping Stones School-Age & Youth Program merged with Kera Lewis and Mother Little Helper Daycare and Group Home to form MLH Early Education Foundation. Our businesses merged and created a structural foundation to include the whole child. Since Jennifer and Kera blended their original programs into one, the results are complimentary to each individual child and their unique family structure. Jennifer's philosophy of teaching encourages youngsters to build their self-esteem and independence by giving them ownership over their time spent in the program. She runs a democracy, giving children appropriate options and allowing children to expand on their interests through project-based learning. The youth enrolled are given responsibilities and are accountable for their actions within the program and at home, developing them into leaders within the group. Jennifer's favorite subjects revolve around natural science, open-ended art, and English. Kera's philosophy of teaching focuses on the cognitive, social-emotional, and physical development of each child. With the creative use of basic American Sign Language (ASL) and Spanish, Creative Curriculum, Ages & Stages assessment tool, and manipulatives (i.e. Lego bricks, puzzles, foam letters, numbers, and shapes, etc.), the children retain information for basic learning and use what is taught to progress into elementary school. The children are given opportunities to work together and solve problems, and are encouraged to try new things, establishing a sense of teamwork and building self-confidence as they develop their social skills and physical development.
