Empowerment, education and support are my goals as I work with families. Having been drawn to birth work for many years, I am so grateful to pursue my dream of serving as a postpartum doula. A lifelong love of learning keeps me motivated to continuously expand my knowledge through classes and personal study in this specialized work. My experience includes over 8 years of childcare for newborns and children of all ages. I worked for a family with multiple children, where I cared for the children of all ages, in addition to cleaning their 3-story home! I am currently available 2 days or evenings per week. I also worked in the Natural and Organic food industry for 19 years and am passionate about supplements, natural remedies and meditation.

Amy started as a nanny with our family when our daughter was four months old. I was nervous beforehand as this was our first non-family caregiver, but any worries were quickly dispelled as I could tell right away we were in great hands. Amy has blown me away with her extreme professionalism. She's reliable, communicative, punctual, prepared, thoughtful, and detail oriented. She's respectful of our routine and wishes, but also very helpfully provides knowledge, insight, and research when needed. Most of all, she's warm, friendly, attentive, and takes wonderful care of our daughter. She's truly a gift and a joy to have in our home, and we're so glad to have found her!

I have 20 years experience as a sitter/nanny, ages newborn to 11 years old. I am CPR certified. I am very reliable and have my own transportation. I have been hoping to find another infant to take care of since the child I was a nanny for moved to another state. I watched her from newborn to 13 months old. I think I would be a good fit for you and your family. I love children. References are provide upon request. An update 1/17/19, for the past five years I was fortunate to find and stay with a new family. I started with a 2 1/2-month-old boy and when they moved for a promotion they had three children that I enjoyed spending days with them doing many varied activities. Also during this five years I have been baby sitting for three other families for date nights, doctors appointments, etc., I'm hoping to find a new family with an infant that I can share my experience and help them grow, learn, and have fun experiences. new references available.

As parents, it is very important to us that we are able to leave our children in the care of someone whom we know and they love and trust; but also, someone whom we as parents love and trust. Julie is always wonderful about keeping us informed of where she and the girls are and asking us if we are okay with her taking them to go swimming, to the park, or for ice cream. And, we can always count on getting texts letting us know when Julie leaves somewhere with the girls and when she arrives to their destination safely. Julie is punctual, responsible, intuitive, professional and delightful. We highly recommend Julie as a caregiver and nanny without question or hesitation. Truly, any family who is able to secure Julie's services should consider themselves incredibly lucky. She is not just someone who takes care of the children, she's a wonderful partner in helping to raise children healthfully, happily and lovingly. We adore her, and any family who brings her on will as well.

FAQs for finding a babysitter

What is a babysitter?
A babysitter is someone you can hire to temporarily care for children. It’s common to hear a babysitter referred to as a “sitter”. There are many babysitter duties that a babysitter can take on such as helping with homework, light cleaning, supervising swimming, or driving the kids to after school activities. Babysitters can help take care of children of all ages.
How much do babysitters charge?
The average rate for babysitters on Care.com as of April, 2026 is $20.25 per hour. A babysitter’s rate will fluctuate depending on where you live, the babysitter's level of experience, and the number of children they will look after. Other factors that can also influence the cost of care include the need for additional babysitter duties, specialized care, and overnight care. The Care.com childcare calculator can help you calculate your child care costs.
What’s the difference between a nanny vs babysitter?
How do you know when you want to find a nanny or a babysitter? This depends on your caregiving needs. Nannies usually have more responsibilities than a babysitter does and often earn a consistent weekly or monthly salary, whereas you typically hire babysitters on an as-needed basis. Families who need consistent care during the workweek will likely want to hire a nanny and may hire a separate sitter to watch their children on the occasional night or weekend. If you’re looking for a nanny or babysitter, Care.com can help you find someone trustworthy.
Are babysitters background checked?
Every individual babysitter on Care.com must complete our Care.com Background Check before messaging families. Sitters who complete this background check will have a badge on their profile displaying the date we ran the background check. While a Care.com Background Check is a good start, we strongly recommend that you take additional steps to hire a babysitter safely, such as interviewing candidates, checking references, and running your own background checks. Care.com Background Checks don’t cover someone a caregiver may bring to a job. Bringing someone to your home without your express permission violates our community guidelines and should be reported. Visit our Safety Center to learn more.
