Experienced Special Needs Assistant And Mom Of 1

Responds within a few days
I have spent the last 5 years working in a special needs school in Ireland, working with children with autism, cerebral palsy, Down syndrome, adhd and ocd. I mostly cared for children from ages 4-8 and worked alongside special needs teachers. My main roles included: Ensuring the well being and happiness of children throughout the day i.e. giving them enough movement breaks from schoolwork and being aware of any triggers of sensory overload. Toilet care and training. Working on fine and gross motor skills. Feeding Keeping a regular and familiar schedule Working with children with special needs has been the most fulfilling career I have ever done. I genuinely feel like I learn much more from them than the other way around! After spending 10 years as a hairstylist ( which can be very convenient for a child with sensory sensitivities that doesn't like going to the hair salon!)I feel that caring for people with special needs is my true calling and I thoroughly enjoy it.

I have experience working with special needs in multiple settings throughout the past 11 years. My time as a Level II Teacher at the New England Center for Children (NECC) provided me with a thorough understanding of applied behavioral analysis (ABA) and clinical experience working with children with brain tumors, traumatic brain injuries, or diagnosed with autism, ADHD, schizophrenia, and/or bipolar disorder. I am reliable, caring, and am passionate towards helping children with special needs reach significant milestones at his/her individual pace.

We initially hired Marla to help with our child with autism and adhd. He can be pretty challenging to provide care for, and we had been through a number of child care providers in an attempt to find a positive solution. Marla provided that! She came with kindness, curiosity, respect, charisma and a huge amount of experience in dealing with children who perceive the world differently. We also have two younger neurotypical children, and they enjoyed being with her and requested time with her. We were able to go on dates again and not worry about the children. She could manage the complicated dynamic with the three of them and balance the intense interpersonal relationships they have. She is incredibly vigilant and attuned to their needs. We are so grateful for the time we have had with her. We hope she returns to live in our area; it was a true gift for our family to have her insight and help.

Respectful, Patient And Passionate Nanny And Teacher

Hello! My name is Ana. I am originally from Colombia but have been living in the U. S. for over 10 years. I have a master's in Early Childhood Education and I am a certified Montessori guide. I am currently working as a lead teacher in a Montessori school during the mornings. During my free time I like to support families that are homeschooling or that would like to learn more about Montessori and apply the philosophy at home. I am available to work 3 or 4 days per week from 3:30 p.m. until around 7:30 p.m. I am fluent in English and Spanish and have experience teaching both languages to children. I have experience working with children with special needs and children of all ages, including newborn babies.

Ana is a fantastic child caregiver. She clearly enjoys working with children and has a natural aptitude for it. She has teaching experience, extensive studies in early childhood development, and is a Montessori expert. Ana did occasional babysitting for us, mostly on weekends. Both our kids (3.5 and 1 at the time) loved spending time with her, and she often had valuable advise for us, as parents, on how to help our children reach developmental goals and encourage desirable behavior. She is far more than a babysitter or a nanny, although she did those jobs superbly. Her approach is focused on setting the conditions that encourage engagement, learning and positive behavior from kids, so the need for corrective action is minimized. She communicates effectively with children at their level. She has a warm, easygoing approach that our kids enjoyed, but also sets clear boundaries. Unfortunately, our schedules stopped aligning, but she's always welcome back in our house.
