Our son has Cri-du-Chat Syndrome and has both physical and cognitive challenges. While he is 18 years old, he functions more like a 1-year-old, so he needs help with basic life functions (dressing, feeding, diaper changes). Though non-verbal, he is very happy and is content to amuse himself. He crawls independently but needs assistance to walk (using a walker). Caregivers are welcome to do homework, read books, watch TV, surf the Internet, etc. while working, as long as they ensure our son is safe. We're looking for respite care so that our other family members can engage in activities that are difficult to do with our son along. Great opportunity for someone interested in nursing, special education, PT, OT or Speech Therapy, or anyone who is kind and caring. We have a 10 lb. dog who is hypoallergenic and friendly--dog lovers a plus!
