Mukilteo Special Needs Child Care

I started working with children when I was 12 yrs old babysitting for families at my church. I worked in a daycare and had the privilege of caring for a very sweet toddler with Down Syndrome. I fell in love with his big heart and the joy he brought to everyone around him. I knew from then on my heart was in working with children with special needs. I worked in elementary and middle schools as a para professional in the special needs department for 4 years. I've also worked in a group home with children and adults with developmental disabilities for 2 yrs. I'm currently working as an accounting clerk but would like to find a weekend position as in my life doesn't feel complete without some work with these special kiddos. Hello my Name is Nina, I've worked with children of all ages and some adults with special needs as well as autism and physically handicapped. I am very patient, caring and sensitive to the needs of those in my care. Music is therapy and touches the heart of those that are autistic and it's a joy to see! I was born and raised in the Bay Area of California. At a young age I had a love for dance, but I was unable to attend dance classes. After moving to Mukilteo, I married and raised my three children. I began taking dance classes here in Mukilteo. My background Is music rhythm and the arts. My other joy is working with children. I received my certificate in Early Childhood Education and taught in schools for over 20 years. I attended dance symposiums at the well known Anne Green Gilbert studio in Seattle. Her classes teach the importance of working the right and left brain. I have been with the Mukilteo Y for 11yrs. Certifications, CERT, CPR, First aid, Aed. WSI, ECE

I have experience working with children ranging from infant to 10 years of age. I have special needs experience and volunteered at an elementary school for 300 hours.

At the age of 13 I volunteered at an agency working with all types of disabilities and fell in love with it. I have worked with young and old with different disabilities ranging from autism, down syndrome, and people with epilepsy. I am very compassionate and patient and find working with people with disabilities such a joy. I am currently working hard to open a Special Needs Day Center. I have worked with a special needs young boy for over seven years now and enjoy taking care of him.
