I have never had a paid position as a caregiver for the elderly, but recently was the primary caregiver for my father during the last 2 years of his life. This required driving to doctors appointments, picking up, monitoring, and administering medications, changing bandages, assistance with eating, bathing, and mobility.
I will likely be the primary caregiver for my mother who is approaching the years of her life that require some assistance to optimize her health and well-being.
I like, am comfortable, and feel competent and/or quick to learn what is necessary for a pleasant, effective relationship with the client that meets their needs, and at the very least makes their life a little easier.
