Today 630 students attend Kindergarten through Fifth grades at Oakdale. The school has a rich history that began in 1904 with a one-room schoolhouse. In 1908 the school grew to three rooms. Nineteen years later a Parent Teacher Association was organized. In 1928 a new school was built to accommodate a growing student population. The school stood until 1952 when fire swept through most of the structure. In 1953 the school was rebuilt and stood on the same spot for 51 years. In 2002 district voters passed a referendum on new school construction that included Oakdale. Construction and renovation of a 1992 wing created the new Oakdale that was rededicated in September 2006.

We encourage children to wonder, question, work with their peers, and experiment with different possibilities. We believe that outdoor play spaces are much more than playgrounds, they are an extension of the classroom in nature. All of our outdoor play spaces were designed to engage children with natural elements, exciting play themes, and varied physical challenges with their safety, health, and skill-building in mind. We believe that play is the work of the child. Children learn best when they are allowed to touch, manipulate, explore, and make discoveries. In their early years, children explore the world around them by using all their senses (touching, tasting, listening, smelling, and looking). As children are invited to approach the world around them according to their own developmental level, they exhibit an attitude of self-confidence and positive self-esteem. We believe as children interact with developmentally appropriate toys (the tools of their work) and activities, they begin building a foundation upon which a successful lifetime can be achieved. Finally, we believe that seeds of the Christian faith should be interwoven into a developmentally appropriate curriculum. Incorporating values such as kindness, love for others, forgiveness, and respect, while integrating stories from God's Word contribute to the spiritual development of children as future members of the community of faith. Our firm belief and mission is that we must help children develop and understand the nature of God, to see Him in His creation and all areas of life.

They are actively involved in music, art, gym, technology and hands on learning in two well developed science labs. The staff at Ashley Park is very talented and creative in the ways they approach teaching in the classroom. They accept responsibility for student learning and provide the support structures needed to ensure that every child grows and develops in their academic knowledge. Our school utilizes the Family Model where our children are assigned a grade level family that they work with everyday instead of just one classroom teacher. The students work together in small groups that change throughout the day based upon the needs of each child. A group of teachers and staff members are assigned to work with each family grade level structure to maximize the learning that occurs daily. Ashley Park is a great little school and we have a lot of wonderful things going on everyday! Please take the opportunity to visit our school when you are in the area. You will love seeing our family in action!

I am a preschool educator with a Bachelor's of Science degree in Birth to Kindergarten Education and am just beginning my graduate studies for a degree in Early Childhood Advocacy and Leadership. One of the unique things about my daycare is a sense of family among the children because there are typically only 5 of them enrolled. I like to say that you get the best of both worlds when you choose to enroll in my daycare. Individualized care for the children like you would expect with a nanny, and socialized care like you would expect with a daycare center.

I am a stay at home mother of a 14-year-old daughter. I used to teach at her elementary school for 3 years so I am very comfortable with children of any age. I have been watching children since roughly the age of 12 and I am now 35. I have watched up to 5 children at one time. I am CPR and First Aid certified for infants-adults. I am very comfortable with pets of any kind and size. My schedule is very open and I am willing to help in the home any way that I can. I believe children learn through fun and should play and interact with someone rather than being placed in front of a TV. I am not afraid to get down and dirty to have fun.
