I have three cumulative years of experience in caregiving. In all of my positions, I have maintained the philosophy of "supportive autonomy"-- I aim to act as a nonjudgemental support person who helps people reach their goals on their own terms. Especially with children and teens, I value the process of making mistakes and trying again. When designing curriculum, I see great value in the natural world, creative arts, and community engagement, and I try to tailor to each student.
I have worked as a balet teacher for students ages 5 and 16, a special education classroom assistant for high school students, a high school mth, French, and social studies tutor, a home aide for a 75-year-old man with cancer, a babysitter for a 4-year-old, a Sunday School teacher for ages 3-16, and a mentor for a 13-year-old adoptee through Big Brothers Big Sisters. I have received training and clinical supervision in mentoring, and am also a doula certification candidate through DONA International.
