About Yvana

I enjoy helping young students learn to read and do arithmetic. With reading, I've chosen to take the phonics approach. I've found that students are able to better improve their reading skills when they've learned and mastered all of the phonemes and graphemes in the English language. Moreover, I believe arithmetic needs to be mastered in order for a student to move onto more rigorous mathematics. When I work with students I prioritize repetition so that they can memorize their math facts. My experience comes from working with my 9-year-old sister. She fell behind in reading and math and I've been helping her get back to perfoming at grade level.
