About Vrunda

Hi, my name is Vrunda and I am a student at Northeastern Illinois University. My major is in elementary education with a minor in history. Coming from a big family I am very used to being around children of all ages. I have cousins that range from the age of 2 weeks to 17 years old. My love for children started when I was in high school. At Maine West High School I was enrolled in the preschool program in which we were basically the teachers and we had to create lesson plans and teach the children the specific topic for the day. We also had to think of new ways to teach the children so that they would be engaged in the lesson. In addition to that, through my high school I also worked with the after-school program called SPARK, at the local Elementary School. While working there I was to help children with their homework and also engage them in other arts and crafts as well as helping them with anything they needed. Recently as a part of my Education major I have been taking a lot of courses to help better my understanding of how children learn and how to keep them engaged. During the summer I observed at a Montessori School, through which I was exposed to another way of teaching.
