About Tess

Hello, my name is Tess! I have six years of experience working with children and students of all ages, and I love helping students build confidence while making learning feel fun and approachable. I have a particular passion for music and am currently pursuing a graduate degree in music performance (oboe) at the University of Houston. I completed my BFA at Carnegie Mellon where I studied music and engineering. I have extensive experience with music theory, ear training, music history, and instrumental instruction, and I especially enjoy helping students discover the parts of music that excite them. I also enjoy tutoring math and science. My experience working at an outdoor summer camp has taught me how to communicate with kids of different ages and learning styles, be patient, and find creative ways to keep students engaged. My goal is always to help students feel more confident in their abilities and confident enough to give everything their best try!
