About Sonya

Hello! I'm Ms. Sonya and I have a passion for teaching/tutoring children. I am an educator with over 25 yrs. of expertise teaching preschool-age children and over 15 yrs. of experience tutoring toddlers and preschoolers outside of school. I am a loving mother to 5 amazing young adults and a grandmother to 5 energetic grandchildren. My origin of homeschooling dates back to almost 30 yrs. ago when I taught 3 of my own children. After becoming fluent readers who were also mathematically sound, each of them skipped a grade and qualified to be in the Gifted and Talented program. This was a huge accomplishment for me because it validated the work I had previously been doing. Most recently, I've had the privilege to work with my 2 oldest granddaughters before entering PreK-4 and Kindergarten. Our focus on penmanship, reading and foundational math skills has allowed both of them to perform above grade level in Math and Reading. If you believe I'm the right candidate, please contact me. Thx!
