About Patricia

I am a recently retired high school math teacher. I began teaching in 1981. I taught elementary school for nine years including grades 1, 2, 4, and 5. I taught middle school math for 19 years and high school math for 10 years. I have been teaching math at Houston Community College since 2017. I am certified in Elementary Self-Contained 1-8 , Mathematics 8-12, and ESL K- 12. I'd describe my personality as friendly, caring, hard working I like tutoring because I like helping struggling students. It is very rewarding seeing students gain confidence as they begin to achieve success. I started tutoring when I was teaching and had struggling students. I would work one on one with them. Eventually I had many calls requesting tutoring. I tutored children and adults. I volunteer in a friend's class helping her ESL students. My skills include breaking down concepts, building confidence, and building self esteem.
