Welcome to my profile! I began caring for children as a Private Nanny in 2009 when the Private School where I taught shut down. Since 2010, I have been hired via Care. com over 20 times. I have great references. Parents consistently compliment me on having a plethora of patience, a kind, gentle spirit and clear communication. I respectfully follow household rules and don't mind Nanny Cam. I give children lots of attention & TLC while they learn through play. Infants enjoy rock rock time, tummy time, story and music time. During naps, I can assist with laundry, etc. I'm comfortable with dogs in the home. However, I am allergic to certain cat danders. In the past I had long commutes to work which was stressful. I'm seeking to assist families who live within 5 to 10 miles of my residence on the Southside of Charlotte. I recently updated my SIDS, CPR and First Aid Certifications. Ms. Shawanda is an extraordinary caregiver! She helped us out with watching our four children so we could attend a special event. She took the time beforehand to get to know each child to make it a special experience. Ms. Shawanda also shared updates and photos throughout the night. She went above and beyond leaving such a positive impression on each! We truly appreciated her assistance!!!

Ms. Shay is absolutely a joy to have. She dedicated herself to my son and not just the job. My son felt so comfortable and always had great days with her. She invested herself in his overall development from language to social development. She is also a very good communicator and very transparent so she never leaves room for worry. Ms. Shay will always be an excellent option in my opinion when looking for childcare. 

Shawanda was a pleasure to have. My first experience using a sitter for my 3 yr old and she made the process smooth. Very very kind, genuine, and sincere. Shawanda is professional and keeps you posted throughout the night. She also works well with any schedule. My child instantly gravitated towards her and her kind spirit. She was great. We took a night out to dinner while in Disney World and she watched our four young children in our vacation villa. She cooked them supper and had them in bed by the time we returned.

We came into town for a trip to Disney. Shawanda was excellent! She was early just to meet with us and our son before our date night. She kept me updated through out the night which secured me  to know my son was in great hands. she has a great personality and has great charm. Whenever I'm in the area again, she will be my first call!

Shawanda has been taking care of my daughter since school let out for the summer, and she has been such a great help! Shawanda has a lot of patience and is observant, which is very important to us because my daughter is autistic. She is easy going and always has a positive attitude. Glad we found her!

We were in town for a wedding and Shawanda took great care of our three-month-old. She made sure to send lots of updates and even stayed later so we could enjoy the wedding for longer. She was great and we would definitely hire her again!

Shay is a very caring, honest and dependable nanny. She has treated my son as if he was her own, and I leave the house at peace every morning. She helps around the house, is very tidy and even cooks for baby. She has been a blessing to my family and I highly recommend her.

Shay was great with my 6 year old daughter, I appreciated that she was able to watch her with short notice provided.   She provided updates throughout the evening that made me feel very comfortable.  

Shay Shay was a hit with our family even before we hired her. With some people you just know they would be a right fit for your family and a good influence on your children. Our now 20 month old loves Shay Shay and hit it off with her within the first few minutes. 

We couldn't afford to hire a full time nanny but if we could we would go with Shay Shay in a heartbeat! We always look forward to her occasionally baby sitting our little boy so he can learn and absorb all the positive energy that Shay exudes!

We would be more than happy to refer her to family and friends.

Shay has been a positive influence in our home.  Our little girls have learned so much from her.  She is always patient and kind with them, while being firm and consistent.  We will definitely continue to have her care for our children in the future and most definitely would recommend her to others as a caregiver to children of all ages.

Ms. Shawanda (dearly Shay Shay) worked as nanny for about 6 months taking care of of our twin 3 year old girls. When we first met Shay, we were quite impressed about her first interaction with our kids. We interviewed a few nannies, but no one had such a great first interaction with kids. One of our girls sat in Shay's lap throughout our interview. We knew we found the perfect nanny for our girls, but at the same time we were thinking this is "too good to be true". We checked plenty of references provided to us and its still "too good to be true". We can definitely say now that "Ms. Shay is really too good and it's true".
We had very clear goals for Ms. Shay and from day 1 she worked on them. She was always timely, if not she informed us. She promptly messaged or called us informing where they are going, when they are coming home, etc. We knew our girls were in safe hands. Before Shay started, our girls had language delay and tantrum prone. Now our girls speak quite well and are extremely well behaved and we get complements from many of our family and friends about their behavior. She teaches them constantly about giving love, to be nice always and being gentle. In fact our girls sometimes tell anyone who is shouting "be nice". This calmness, love and gentle manners don't inculcate unless they are taught and we thank Ms. Shay for that. Ms. Shay is very outdoorsy and everyday took our girls to parks for physical activity. During winter time, she still found places to go and play. She always made sure they had food and fluids. She gave a written report of everyday activities. My husband especially loved reading those after he came from work everyday. Unless someone is very passionate about kids and their learning, its very hard to do that well everyday. Shay taught very creative things to our girls. In fact everything that are done in schools. She is a beautiful singer and we can already see one of our daughter learning from Ms. Shay. 
Even though she has a tiring day (imagine dealing with 3 year old twins 5 days/week), she was always energetic, smiling and ready to go the next day. In spite of her busy schedule, she would offer to watch them to help us to go out for dinner or a movie. We feel that was very nice of her to do that and that's priceless. Our girls are joining school and we know how much we will miss Ms. Shay. She started as a nanny for our girls, but very soon became a part of our family. Ms. Shay is a wonderful person, amazing nanny for any kid she would be caring for. We are sure whoever is interested to hire her will think just like we did "she is too good to be true" and we felt that "yes, she is really that good". You will not be wrong. Shawanda ("Miss Shay") was a full-time nanny in our home for 14 months and cared for our two girls (now ages 4 1/2 and 18 months) and our dog during that time. She was patient, loving and endlessly creative in teaching them manners, songs, games, letters and numbers. 

Each day she arrived on time (or would call if running a few minutes behind), took detailed notes of their daily activities and was responsive to any needs or requests we made regarding their care. During this time she adjusted to the needs of our growing children and transported our eldest to preschool each day when she turned 4. She kept the children on a consistent schedule, developed healthy meals and would prepare lesson plans appropriate for the season or other events. She was resourceful in utilizing the supplies available but also brought in books and activities from her own library to share. She frequently took the children for outside time at local parks and limited TV time for appropriate use (such as a treat or reward). 

Miss Shay was a pleasure to work with and our children responded well to her and grew to love her. Due to situation/schedule changes, we could not continue with a full-time nanny. However, we do plan to call on her in the future (evenings or weekend care) and I strongly recommend her as a child care provider.
