After graduating with a bachelors in developmental psychology, I was quickly hired at a school for chidlren with autism and brain injuries. As a residential counselor, my responsibilities included implementing goals set in their individual education support plans and following their behavior support plan. While there, I was working the second shift and many times I was required to work the third shift as well. After a year, I decided to explore new employment opportunities. I was looking for more stability in my schedule when I came across another institute. I have been working there for about six months. I love working this my students. My responsibilities are quite similar to those at my previous job. As an assistant instructor, I have more responsibility in the academic part of the students planning. I enjoy helping my supervisors by giving my input on the everyday behavior and skills exhibited by the students. I wasn't really sure what I wanted to do with my life while studying in college, but after starting my masters in special ed. I was convinced that this is what I will be happy doing for the rest of my career.
