About Sandra

I began working with seniors as a nursing assistant in the late 1970's. I very much enjoyed it and though it's been about 40 years I still remember my patients by name. I attended nursing school although I did not graduate going on to work for over 10 years in a hospital on all kinds of medical and surgical units so I am quite familiar with medical terminology and protocol. I was very involved in the care of my mother who passed away at 95 two years ago-helping her with home maintenance, meal preparation, errands, outings and coordinating care. I have worked as a professional organizer and helped her to downsize and organize her home. I was a stay at home mother married to a surgeon and now that my children are grown and gone I am interested in working in a field that is service oriented. I get a lot of enjoyment from helping others. I can cook, sew, knit, garden and have a degree in studio art and art history. I also volunteer with an organization that brings art to at risk children in the metro area. I am looking for a non-medical position without any heavy lifting as I am petite. I have a wide variety of interests, a lot of patience and compassion and a good sense of humor. I have reliable transportation that worked well for transporting my mother with walker or wheel chair. I also have a little 10 lb dog that is very sweet, hypoallergenic and doesn't shed or bark that would also love to come visit if appropriate and desired.
