Experience: 10 yrs
I'm an early childhood professional (CCC-SLP; MS IMH-DP) currently completing online CEUs to update my SLP license. So I'm looking for families who need PT or occasional/re-occurring childcare or tutoring. I have almost two decades of experience with children of all ages. The majority of my experience has been with younger kids and babies (0-6 years) and/or children with special needs. I'm bilingual (Spanish) and I know basic ASL (shoutout Sign Language Center in Manhattan!). I *love* promoting bilingualism and literacy! I genuinely enjoy observing and supporting early childhood development. And whether you're looking for a one-time sitter or you're hoping for an auxiliary person to support your family as your little ones grow, I understand how much trust is required for parents to allow someone to care for their children. I respect the magnitude of this responsibility.
Nico is one of the most trustworthy and caring people I know. I had the privilege of working alongside her for two years in a therapeutic nursery setting, and I can confidently say she is one of the most compassionate, skilled, and dedicated educators I’ve met. She has the ability to connect with all children, especially those with special needs, with patience, understanding, and love. Her expertise has only grown, as she holds a Master’s degree in child mental health and speech pathology. Any family would be incredibly fortunate to have her support and care for their child. Nico has also pet-sat for my fur-baby on several occasions. She has stayed at my home for trips as long as two weeks, and each time I returned to find everything just as I left it, clean, organized, and well cared for. Most importantly, my dog, who is usually very anxious, has a great time and really connects with her. Nico is just as patient and calm with animals as she is with children. She understands how to give them the attention and engagement they need while also making them feel safe and comfortable. I could tell my dog felt at ease in her care, which gave me peace of mind while I was away. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend her to anyone looking for a reliable, kind, and attentive house and pet sitter.
