About Monica

Experience: 5 yrs

I'm a responsible, caring, and engaging nanny and teacher. My five years of experience as a nanny and as head teacher of a daycare--as well as my degree in clinical psychology and health-make me a great fit for families of infants, toddlers, and young children.

(T&S Member Vetting Team): Review approved after removing the following PII data: Monica currently cares for two girls in a nanny share in Bernal. She previously worked at a daycare and has experience with babies, toddlers, and older children (she has a daughter in elementary school). Monica has looked after both of our kids starting at 4 months old. I truly cannot say enough good things about her—she’s been absolutely incredible, and any family would be lucky to have her. A few of the things I love about Monica: She is incredibly dependable. She has never missed a day of work and is never late—in fact, she typically arrives 10–15 minutes early. Her communication is very strong, and on the one day she was ~5 minutes late due to a rainstorm, she reached out 20 minutes in advance to give me a heads up. If you work demanding jobs, you know how invaluable that kind of reliability is. Monica also helps with babysitting and has always been available when we needed her after hours or on the weekend. She is kind and deeply loving. She truly adores both girls and cares for them as her own. When my mom was visiting, she met Monica and was nearly in tears seeing how much she loves our daughter. The feeling is mutual—both girls adore her fiercely. Monica is not a nanny you will ever spot staring at her phone on the playground. She loves to interact and play with the girls and she genuinely enjoys her job. I feel incredibly lucky that my daughter has had someone who genuinely loves her in her life. She creates a rich, social environment. Monica is well-connected with other nannies in the neighborhood. They meet up daily at parks around Bernal and the Mission for activities like story time, indoor gym time, baby yoga, and more. She even started taking them to Stemful on her own dime—just because she thought they’d love it. My daughter has been to park birthday parties and Easter egg hunts organized by Monica and her network. If you're torn between a nanny and daycare because of the social aspect, Monica offers the best of both worlds: personalized 1:1 care with daily group play and enrichment. She’s strong (SF locals will understand!). Monica takes two toddlers in a stroller—twice a day—on hilly walks to parks. I love that they spend so much time outdoors instead of being cooped up inside. She’s experienced and intuitive. With years of experience caring for babies and toddlers, Monica understands the importance of routine. She helped us develop schedules that worked for everyone, incorporating activities like arts and crafts, singing and dancing, and reading. She communicates thoughtfully and helps navigate milestones like weaning, dropping naps, and more. I trust her 1000% with my daughter. She takes pride in her work. Monica always leaves our house perfectly tidy and brings joy and intention to every day. She genuinely wants to create magical moments for the kids, and having her in our lives has been an enormous blessing. She brings language learning, too. Monica primarily speaks Spanish but also speaks some English. We don’t speak Spanish ourselves, but communication has never been an issue—her English is strong enough that we can communicate in person and texting works well for more complex conversations as a fallback. She’s taught both of our kids Spanish, and they speak it with beautiful accents! We are so sad to say goodbye to Monica, but we hope our loss will be someone else’s gain. Please feel free to reach out to me for a more detailed review or questions!
