Hello, my name is Laura, and I am a Special Education Teacher of 11 years, taking a break from the classroom. Prior to beginning my teaching career, I provided a variety of services for multiple families across Hampton Roads. I also cared for my mother. As a special education teacher, I worked with children of various ages and disabilities and delays. I excelled in the classroom, particularly with my ability to develop meaningful connections and relationships with the students, families, and colleagues. I am easy-going, flexible, organized, good with time management, and great at effectively addressing stressful situations. I adapt easily, and I am an expert at behavior management, social, emotional, and academic needs. I have experience with children with special needs, including gtube feeding/medication management, providing therapy (speech, feed, emotional, gross, and fine motor), positive behavioral supports, transportation, and more.
