I'm a registered nurse currently working with developmentally disabled adults. I have 3 years experience as a nurse in this field. Before becoming a nurse I provided direct care to a variety of populations including the elderly, dementia, developmentally disabled adults and children. I have experience with bathing, toileting, dressing, ambulation assistance, med administration, running medical appointments and recreation activities. I enjoy cooking and have experience preparing diets for a variety of needs, including dysphagia diets. I have experience with feeding people with swallowing issues and feeding tubes. I also have experience working with people who have mobility issues including wheelchairs and lifts. I have no issues working with people that have challenging behaviors, including people who can be verbally or physically combative. I am an animal lover and would have no problem working in a home with pets and contributing to their care.
