About Kade

I started tutoring in 2017 and have since worked in a few different after school and wraparound programs where I've mentored and tutored students ranging in age from 4 to 20 years old. For the past two years, I worked at an after school program in the San Diego Unified School District. My job included providing academic support to students in grades K-8. In my spare time, I like to play guitar, write poetry, spend time in nature, and hang out with my friends, partner, and my cat. One thing you should know about me is that I took a class on tutoring in 2023, at Mesa College, which taught me the science of tutoring and how to be an effective tutor. I learned that tutors shouldn't give all the answers, rather our role is to help students learn how to find the answers for themselves. My skills include helping students build effective study skills and habits, working with youth with disabilities and mental health issues, and encouraging independent thinking and academic resiliency.
