About Hilary

I am a licensed elementary school teacher employed by Henrico County Public Schools with 15 years of teaching experience. I have a Master of Education in Curriculum and Instruction with a concentration in Reading Education from the University of Virginia and a Master of Teaching from Virginia Commonwealth University. As a reading teacher, I use a structured literacy approach that is supported by research evidence. This approach includes explicit, systematic, and sequential instruction of phonemes, letter-sound relationships, and syllable patterns. I ensure that cumulative practice is implemented, decodable texts are used, and prompt corrective feedback is given. I am offering virtual reading tutoring sessions. I encourage one to three tutoring sessions per week to help maximize growth. Each session can range from 45 to 60 minutes long. I prefer to use Zoom as the online platform, but I can also use G Meet.
