About Andrea

I am a certified teacher in the areas of special education, early childhood, and elementary education in the state of Virginia. I have a master degree in special education, postmasters degree in trauma informed education, and social learning certification. I have 20 years of experience as a teacher. In my spare time, I like to paint whimsical and abstract paintings. I enjoy hiking, camping hanging out with friends, spending time with my husband, listening to music, and watching my chickens. One thing you should know about me is I am the parent of an adult child with autism and two children with ADHD. My daughter being diagnosed with autism at age 5 was the inspiration for me going back and getting my masters degree in special education. I am passionate about advocating for children of special needs and teaching them to be empowered through learning how to self advocate. My skills include intuitively, knowing what a student needs, flexibility, and creativity.
