About Amanda

Hi, I'm Amanda! I'm a 1st grade teacher at Academies with a passion for helping children grow in confidence and succeed academically. During the summer, I offer personalized tutoring for students who need extra support in reading and math. I have 3 years of experience teaching reading intervention strategies. I use fun, interactive math games to help students build fluency in addition and subtraction while strengthening foundational skills. I'm experienced in adapting lessons to meet each student's individual needs and can also support older students who may have gaps in their learning. I'm familiar with the current math methods and strategies being taught in schools today, which helps me reinforce classroom learning in a way that feels consistent and approachable for students. Before becoming a teacher, I worked as a teacher's aide providing reading and math support, and as a parent myself, I understand the importance of patience, encouragement, and making learning enjoyable.
