When it comes to tutoring, here is how your student and I will thrive: 1. Adaptability. All children have the potential to enjoy and thrive in education: it is my job to make that possible. I work with students to understand their particular learning style and value their independence. Together, we will craft an approach to learning that is academically successful AND fun! 2. Patience. Practicing skills takes time, and is not always easy. As a tutor, I am patient and open to student emotions and modes of processing. Our study environment will be calm and focused. 3. Rigor. To me, the hallmark of a star student is not always an A+ report card. I am looking for a push to grow, a desire to become better. I will meet students where they are at and align with their current skills. Once comfortability with a topic is established, we'll proceed in building complex and critical thinking. We are not just trying to get good grades, we are working at being better learners.
