I initially took my Certified Nursing Assistant class in February 2019 as a way to apply for nursing school (it was required), but during clinical, I fell in love with the geriatric patient population. I immediately got a job working for an assisted living facility in Woodstock, and soon after obtained my Certified Medication Aide certification (experience injecting insulin, blood sugar checks, and dispensing medication). I left that job in August 2019 because I began my Registered Nursing program at West Georgia Technical College and I needed more flexibility than the position was willing to offer. When I graduate, I'll probably start my nursing career as a hospice RN because of how much I loved working with my residents.
