Teacher With A Variety Of Child Care Experience, Looking For Summer Work
I am currently working as a paraprofessional in a 3rd grade classroom in LaGrange, which ends the beginning of June. I am a certified art teacher, who was unable to find a full time position, but manage to get my art fill by teaching after school art classes through Young Rembrandts' Inc. I also teach after school basketball clinics for the Elmhurst YMCA. I have a variety of experience working with children ranging in age from toddlers to teenagers. I student taught at the middle school level in Arlington Heights; prior to, I spent 7 weeks at an elementary school in Hinsdale. My favorite job was teaching preschool to 2-3-year-olds. I taught at a preschool in Lombard, which is part of the Butterfield Park District. I taught the 2-3-year-old class for 21/2 years, leaving only to pursue my teaching certificate. I graduated from the University of Wisconsin in 2004 with an art degree. While in school, I worked for the YMCA before and after school care program, as well as their summer camp programs. Proceeding college, I went to Durango, Colorado, for a summer where I worked as a resident camp counselor. I then returned to Wisconsin to work at YMCA camp, as an outdoor education instructor for a season, then went back to school at UW-Milwaukee, and lived with a family as a part-time nanny for their 1-year-old boy. I obviously didn't have a real direction or destination at this point and enjoyed the variety! After the semester at Milwaukee and living with the family as a nanny, I moved to Elmhurst where I worked as a summer camp director in Northbrook, then took on full-time work for the Butterfield Park District. I have been working for them for almost three years. I decided that my true passion is teaching, stepped down from my recreation program manager position to attend school full time and work part time in preschool, for the park district. My favorite part of working with kids is being given an opportunity to watch them grow into unique individuals; not only watching, but interacting, teaching, laughing, and growing, right along with them! Please contact me if you would be interested in working something out. Thanks!
