I believe children learn best when they are having fun. For that reason I provide creative and educational toys that allow children to learn through play. Lesson plans incorporate songs and games to keep children engaged. I believe parents are teammates with whom I share the common goal of helping the child succeed. For that reason I encourage open communication if the parents have any questions or concerns. I post weekly recaps online and send home monthly newsletters so parents can reiterate current topics at home and be informed on what their children are learning. I believe the environment should be stimulating and meet each child's individual needs. For that reason I divide the room into play stations, giving children the opportunity to play together in small groups or apart when they need space. I believe that the provider should be accepting of all children regardless of their race, ethnic, economic, or religious background. For that reason I celebrate diversity and include imagery of people from other cultures in the center. I will be a role model to teach children to accept others differences and that everyone is special. I believe that the health and safety of the children is my primary responsibility. For that reason I have a safe environment, including childproof outlets, safety gates, and proper supervision. There is also a health policy to prevent children being exposed to illness. I believe that good nutrition is the foundation to learning and growing. For that reason I serve nutritious meals and snacks. I serve fresh produce and purchase organic when I can. I avoid preservatives, added hormones, or highly processed foods. I serve whole grains everyday, and have a reverse osmosis water filter. I believe that guidance is most effective when children are encouraged to identify their own, and others, feelings. For that reason I talk with children about what happened, why it happened, and how it affects others.
