Loving Granddaughter Of Nonagenarians
I have always had a warm place in my heart for seniors. I have helped take care of my grandfather who is 97 and living in his own apartment. I prepared meals for him and generally kept him company. His hearing is his bad so I've always been accommodating to that, I sit close and let him read my lips. My number one priority is helping maintain his dignity and privacy.
I also have a grandmother whom I took care of 3 days a week while she was transferring. At the time she had short term memory loss and almost total vision loss. My main goal with her was to keep her company, be a companion and try to get her to laugh! She could do crossword puzzles, so we did plenty of those, talked about current events and memories.
I understand so much more about senior care since taking care of my grandparents. I know you want peace of mind that they are being treated well, and that they have things to fill their days.
I have helped my grandmother with changing, bathroom, pills and dentures. I am very strong and can assist with walking and some lifting.
