Education-Minded College Student Provides Part-Time/Full-Time Tutoring
Education has always been an important aspect in my life, and it has been something that I have excelled at. Throughout high school, I challenged myself to take the courses that would best prepare me for college. I finished high school at the top of my class. My senior year, I had the opportunity to volunteer in a second grade classroom and helped students work on math and reading one-on-one. It was a great experience. My freshman year of college, I was lucky to be hired as a mentor/tutor for college students in lower level math courses (algebra). It was a neat opportunity to learn more about teaching math to students. Last summer, I had the opportunity to live in inner-city Chicago for five weeks and volunteered at a Christian kids' day camp for two of the weeks. This camp was focused on serving the needs of the kids from this low-income African American neighborhood. These students tend to fall behind in math and reading especially, so every morning we worked with the students on growing these skills and helping them gain a love for learning. I just completed my third year of college at the University of Wisconsin - Eau Claire and am pursuing degrees in Sociology and Mathematics.
