Part Time Tutor
I have worked with young students through many volunteer programs. I was a Link Crew leader in high school. I spent my senior year working with incoming high school freshmen to help make their transition easier and answer any questions they might have had. I was a volunteer reading tutor at my local elementary school. In both my freshman and sophomore years at the University of St. Thomas, I volunteered at at an elementary school; I worked in reading and math classrooms. In high school, I took a class entitled Child Development. In this class I worked with 3-5-year-old. I did learning activities with them including games, stories, crafts, and songs. I was responsible for creating some of these lessons myself. In another class, Exploring Childhood, I spent a semester in a third grade classroom. I learned how to develop lesson plans and practiced giving these lessons to my third grade class. I have worked with children in the subjects of reading, math, spelling, and science. I am comfortable tutoring any subject; however, the math and sciences, particularly chemistry and biology, are my strong point. I have taken advanced level courses in math and science throughout my years of school.
