Hello, my name is Crystal. I am 31 years of age. I have three god children that I have helped raise from birth. I have a niece and two nephews that love so much. I always knew I wanted to work with children since I was 13. All through high school, I took a childcare course. I received my 90 hours from being in a childcare setting where most people are in classrooms. I have been a childcare professional for 12 years. I have worked with infants-five years of age. After high school, I worked with two's, I was an aide for about a year. After that, I was able to have my own classroom. I worked with threes and early fours, where I prepared a lesson plan to support the children's needs. After working with threes and fours, I was ready to work with infants, so I worked with infants for three years. Working with infants was the most joyful experience, I was able to watch them grow. To see them reach their milestones it was like I was a proud parent. I had to feed them breakfast, lunch and dinner. I formed a special bond between me and the infants that I cared for. The program that I work for now, when you work with infants you are with them for two years so you can imagine the bond that you and the kids form. I would have to write down observations so that parents could know what their child did for the day. I would also have to do lesson plans to suite each child's need and their interest. At the present time, I work with twos that are transitioning to preschool, so some of them are three and some are still two. For the school year, I have to prepare a lesson plan that focus around the children's interest. I also have to write daily observations about what the child did for the day so the parents have some idea of what their child did for the day. I also have to complete portfolio's for each child; we have fall, winter and summer. We have to take pictures daily of the children at play and the portfolio is based on the child's interest and where they like to play and any conversations they have with teacher and friends. Based on portfolio's, I am able to have parent-teacher conferences showing the parents their child's interest at school. I really enjoyed being able to share a little of myself and my childcare experience.
