About who needs care: Underlying conditions: - Has mild dementia/cognitive impairment, generally makes sense but some slower processing - Has some instability and weakness when walking; can walk but has fallen - Capable of taking himself to the bathroom, and if he does go to the bathroom, he can do so independently, but often doesn't notice when he needs to use the bathroom and will have accidents (he does wear Depends) Hobbies/interests: - Big music aficionado, especially 70s rock music (think: Rolling Stones), and loves learning about the history of different musicians and bands - Interest in reading Ideal day: - *His* ideal day is sitting in bed and watching YouTube videos about rock bands - *Our* vision of an ideal day includes eating healthy meals, a short walk, and doing something to challenge his brain (like reading or going to a class) About the care needs: We are looking for someone who can spend a couple hours a day with my dad to make sure that he: gets out of bed, eats breakfast, takes his medication, goes for a walk, does something to engage his brain, and eats lunch. This person would remind him about any appointments he has and would wash the bed linens, as he often wets the bed overnight (despite wearing Depends). He is independent in getting dressed and using the bathroom (when he remembers to go), and he can feed himself as long as food is put in front of him. The ideal person would be someone who can talk about music with him! This person does not need to drive, as he is enrolled with Trimet Lift to get places, though help scheduling those rides would be great if he has upcoming appointments or classes (he is already enrolled in some classes like piano and water aerobics). Services needed include: transportation, meal preparation, errands / shopping, light housekeeping, companionship, feeding, bathing / dressing, and mobility assistance.
