About who needs care: He is currently in a rehabilitation facility due to follow-up care after a fall at home. He has been doing regular physical therapy to improve his strength and motion but still needs assistance. There has been an escalation in his memory difficulties, and there will need to be further follow-up concerning this issue as well as exercises to improve and maintain his cognitive health. He loves to read and is a former educator and loves sports such as football, basketball, baseball and racing, especially Indy car. He will need a very structured and consistent routine for his days throughout the week. This will include getting up to take his morning medications, regularly scheduled meals and some type of activities that will exercise his mind and/or his body. My brother does live with him; however, he is wheelchair bound and cannot complete physical tasks that are needed for my dad, such as assistance with mobility, hygiene, etc. About the care needs: The ideal caregiver will need to be very well-experienced with elderly patients. He can be very stubborn and set in his ways, as many people his age are at this point. It would be great if his caregiver his some knowledge and interests in sports. He will need someone who specializes in dealing with people in his age bracket, has a friendly yet firm personality, and has "thick skin". Services needed include: transportation, feeding, bathing / dressing, and mobility assistance.
