About who needs care: A caregiver described Nancy: "Nancy is a kind hearted woman who responds well to those who are positive in their demeanor and who are calm and patient. At times, Nancy has trouble clearly speaking; she is receiving speech therapy. So a caregiver that works with Nancy has to have exceptional listening and mirroring skills and respond always with kindness. She is funny, witty and smart and when the conversation is flowing you get to see this wonderful side of her. Besides her beautiful smile, cheerful laugh and, what I call, her 'Happy eyes'." She is 83. All the therapies "love" the way Nancy actively participates. She wants her independence back. We're looking for a caregiver who is capable ad wants to hlep Nancy reach that goal; this is a meaningful caregiver's assignment working with a caring family in very pleasant home and surrounding. About the care needs: A pleasant, positive, cheerful, not a constantly talker, respectful, good listener, confident, flexible, empathetic, team-oriented, strong female with a minimum height of 5-ft, 4-inches to assist Nancy in going from set-to-stand and in doing her daily PT, ST, and OT exercises. We have three sit-to-stand lifts. (None a Holt lift.) Some caregivers use them, some don't. Even for experiences caregivers, coming into a new assignment can seem overwhelming initially. We have a care-coordinator available to provide an orientation, ongoing assistance, and support until the caregiver feels comfortable and confident to be complerely self-directed. Services needed include: transportation, meal preparation, errands / shopping, light housekeeping, companionship, feeding, bathing / dressing, and mobility assistance.
