Our family is looking for overnight home care for our 41-year-old son, who suffers from ALS, also known as Lou Gehrig's disease. While ALS is a terminal illness that affects Jake's physical ability to care for himself, his mind is sharp. At night, he needs assistance getting ready for bed: toothbrushing, helping him onto the toilet with a sit to stand, medication and help getting into bed. In the morning he will need help getting back into his wheel chair. During the night, he only needs someone in the apartment in case of emergency. IHSS certification is preferred or at least a willingness to apply for it. Despite his illness, Jake is a remarkable man. Jake has loving family support. We are seeking a big-hearted caregiver who will join us on Jake's journey.
