About who needs care: David, 46, was in a car accident and typically talks about it on his own accord. Was at Harborview for 87 days recovering from his injuries including a stroke which left him with Aphasia which is getting better. His speech is mumbled a lot of the times but communicates well with hand gestures and writing. At harborview, he had a great schedule of therapies. He's been out of the hospital for about 1 month and is eager to start PT and Speech therapies again, which he has been doing here and there. He works well with routine, and we've been struggling with establishing that. His goals are to Walk, Talk, and drive again and he's motivated! He can take care of himself for the most part, shower, getting dressed, meds, food, restroom, etc. with very minimal assistance. He likes to do things on his own and requires patience and a stern spirit when it's unsafe for him to do something on his own :) About the care needs: Looking for a confident strong person to assist David from inside his house, down a ramp, into a car, and driving him to his appointments/therapies 1-2x per week. (2-10miles typical) He requires patience with his speech as forming proper words are difficult for him, but he understands completely what he's trying to say and get across. He's 6'1'' tall when standing and will needs someone to be behind him to make sure he doesn't tip over during transfers. He can be a smarty pants but has a kind compassionate spirit. Key Needs in someone: - Positive - Physically Strong - easy to communicate with - Patient - Kind Services needed include: transportation.
